New Year is a great time to celebrate and make new goals. It is also a time when many families create and solidify holiday traditions.

New Year's Eve parties and celebrations are exciting ways to begin a new year. While many adults spend time at parties without their children, children can also enjoy the New Year holiday. Fun holiday traditions allow families to celebrate New Year in great and unique ways.

New Year's Dinner

Kicking off the New Year with a good meal is always a good idea. Parents can choose a meal for the occasion with a fun twist on the traditional holiday dinners of Christmas or Thanksgiving. To emphasize the Baby New Year, serve baby carrots or baby corn. Decorate baby themed cakes or cookies to serve at a family New Year party. Families should also keep juice, crackers and a cheese ball handy for the late night on New Year's Eve.

New Year's Eve Fireworks

Fireworks should not only be used during the 4th of July. Fireworks displays during New Year's Eve are an exciting way to celebrate the occasion. Make it a tradition to attend a local display of fireworks, or stock up on fireworks and save them for the New Year. As always, it is important for families to be safe and warm when they set off their own fireworks. Parents should bundle their children and exercise caution when celebrating with fireworks.

Setting New Year's Resolutions

The New Year is a perfect time for individuals and families to set resolutions. Parents can make this a tradition by setting aside some time for the family to make New Year's resolutions together. Use fun paper and pencils to write resolutions down. Resolutions can be set individually or as a family. To help everyone keep his or her resolution, put up a list or reminder of these written resolutions somewhere conspicuous in the home so that no one forgets them!

Unique New Year Traditions

To make the New Year special, children and parents can set their shoes outside the door on New Year's Eve. In the morning the Baby New Year will have filled the shoes with fun gifts and treats. Christmas stockings can also be hung instead of placing shoes by the door. Another fun tradition parents of older children or teens can incorporate is winter camping. When setting up a winter camping trip, allow time for family members to reminisce about significant events and experiences of the past year.

Families can bring in the New Year with fun traditions. A New Year's dinner or fireworks show is a great way to celebrate the New Year with family members. Families can also make New Year's resolutions or find unique ways to commemorate the New Year.
